Recovery continues

I talked with mums for a while yesterday. She's still really super tired and was disappointed at her energy levels and ability to sit up easily. Her voice is still small and I can hear the exhaustion. I know she'll be 100 times better, though, a week from now and tried to encourage her on.

It's been cold and rainy in Minnesota. She's hoping for sun to supplement a need for walking (and in turn reducing her water retention that seems to remain).

She goes in for blood work, surgeon meeting, etc, on Thursday. Keep your healthy vibes shooting off to the northern midwest.

Remember what those surgeons did to your insides. They completely rebuilt that biliary system. Your energy level will be slow in returning but pretty soon every day you will notice that you did something that you didn't do the day before. Then you will have a set back and you will get discouraged, but your body has a way of telling you what you can and can not do. Listen to it. I think you are doing wonderful for just 10 days post op. Remember that and put it in perspective. It has just been 10 days. We are praying for patience and healing. Look forward to seeing you soon!!
    Love ya,
    Rob, Katrina, and gang!!

  3. Good morning Paulette-
You have done so well! I can't believe you are out of the hospital after all you had done. Good for you! I know the recovery can not be easy. Hang in there. I just know better days are right around the corner. I'm praying for you. How nice for you to have Patsy there - Sugar and Spice! Those were the days, right. Not much going on around here. Eric's two girls are visiting this week. That's always fun. Tomorrow we are going to Cimarron so we can hang out with Melissa and her kids. You take care my friend. I am so looking forward to the day you come home. I love you - Linda

  4. Dear Paulette,

C'mon, Sunshine, do your shining thing up there in Minnesota. Break apart those clouds to disperse the gloom; open wide so the sunshine can come through bright and strong. Then you two pretty young girls can take a walk outdoors.

Little by little your body is building on its recovery plan, Paulette. On the days that you might be a little frustrated on what you can't do, think of all of the great things you can do ... Even when you don't feel a big overwhelming jump forward in your recuperation, your body is making progress today in ways that you will feel tomorrow. God is in charge.

    Today's Joke:

A less than fastidious wife was being teased good-naturedly by her husband. "You know, dear, I can write my name in the dust on the mantel."

To which she sweetly replied, "Yes, darling, I know. That's why I married a college graduate."

Encouraging words from Isaiah 54: -- "It's with lasting love that I'm tenderly caring for Paulette."

Our thoughts and prayers continue for you, Paulette.

    Caring about you,
    Joyce

  5. Hi Paulette & Patsy,

Bedtime snack going on up there? Ice cream? Watermelon? It will be snack time here in about an hour :>)

Waiting for healing is making me think of raising children tonight.... While they are being terrible twos or terrible teens, we think they will never grow up, and then we get to our 50s and it seems like it must have happened overnight. Whoosh... and childhood is no more. We will try to wait patiently for that woosh, Paulette, when this surgery seems only a distant memory. Then look out ... You'll be in that kitchen rattlin' those pots and pans!

    Sleep well, girls.

    Loves & Hugs,
    Susie

  6. Hello Paulette and Patsy,
I think about you so much of the time. Very glad you are out of the hospital. Those walls can get to closing in on you. Sorry the sun hasn't been shining much. It's been shining a lot here! Though, there were tornado warnings tonoc in Ford and Edwards Co.(where my brother lives). I called them to warn them, and Kathy was cleaning out drawers and Ron was out mowing the grass. Hmmm We didn't get a drop here. They had hail at Dodge the tv said. Brad & I went last wk-end to the KS Hog Rally. Can you believe that? I drove my car to Lawrence though.(cheater I am). I did enjoy the day rides. First I'd ridden in a couple of yrs. since Ron & Kathy's wreck.(my brother).Ron and Kathy were with us there. We had a great time. Hard to be in Lawrence though, in a motel when Kelli & family live right there and to be torn. I go tomorrow to our cabin near Green Mountain Falls, CO. Susie Biggs went out there Monday. Hope we don't see any bears. When we were there Mem. Day, Brad saw one at Susie's cabin! Enough of my blabbing. Hang in there and get well!
We love you and we care so much,
    Sonja & Brad Wooldridge

  8. Good Morning on a Wednesday, Paulette ...

Another day of recuperation, rest, recovery, relaxation, restoration, refreshment ... the mighty R's up and running today in your body, giving you renewed hope and strength for all that God is doing in you, for you, and through you. Today will bring together the medication and food and exercise for continued healing in you, Paulette.

    Today's Joke:

A young couple went on a cruise for their honeymoon. When they got back, the bride called her mother. "How was the honeymoon?" asked her mom.

"The honeymoon was fine," she replied. "But as soon as we returned to the apartment, he began using horrible language. Things I'd never heard before. Terrible four-letter words. I want to come home!"

Alarmed, the mother asked, "What four-letter words?"

    "Dust, iron, wash, cook."

Encouraging Words in Jeremiah 29:11-13 -- “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out -- plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. When you call on Me, when you come and pray to Me, I’ll listen. When you come looking for Me, Paulette, you’ll find Me.”

Keep on keepin' on, dear lady. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We are trusting the Lord to give you sunshine and encouragement today.

    Caring about you,
    Joyce

  13. Paulette,
Sorry I haven't posted for a while. Sounds like overall you are doing good. Remember to be patient, it is going to take a little while for you to be back running your marathon. Let your body do its thing, you will be back to normal soon enough!!

I hope they don't poke too much on Thursday. Also hope that the surgeon has positive news for you.

If you get tired of that rainy weather you could always send some our way. :) It has stayed cloudy all day but no rain, just a drop here and there. Maybe the rain will clear out there and Patsy and you will be able to take a trip around the block.

Good luck tomorrow! Hope your still eating good and getting losts of rest! Hope to have you back in good 'ol Kansas before too long!

Your still in all of our prayers!

  14. Hi Paulette,
We had a nice shower here this evening and it has been a nice cool day most all day. Jovi wasn't too happy that we had to leave swimming lessons early due to the lightning but I'm happy to have it!

I know that you probably aren't where you want to be yet in the way of energy but that will come with time. Your body has been put through the wringer and it will take some time to get everything back on an even keel. Just remember to look for the little signs of improvement along the way.

Good luck at your appointment tomorrow, we will all be praying for you.

    Love,
    Marieta & Tom

  15. Paulette,

I’m so glad you’re getting along like you have. I’ll bet you’re one of the fastest recovery patients they’ve had. They just don’t know what kind of ‘grit’ those Kansas women have, do they? You’ve really been through a lot, these last few months and then, with the major surgery. It’s going to take quite awhile to recover. And, I know you don’t like to be ‘laid up’. But, just take it easy, one day at a time!!! I’m sure Patsy & you are enjoying each other’s company and chatting and laughing away.

Send some of that dreary rain, this way, and I’ll send you our Record highs and wind. San Antonio seems to think its part of Western Kansas, with our windy days. I hate to think what July & August are going to be like.

I sure hope your reports all come back a Big Plus! I think of you everyday and you most definitely are in my prayers!

    Take care,

    Love,

    Cheryl
