Sunday brunch

The pork loin is grilled and marinating in BBQ sauce in the crock pot. Momma will be eating pulled pork today.

I'm getting ready to drive up to get mom going for the day. Last night she spent her first night alone (in the room, that is). I'm hoping everything is OK with her dressing. We had a wonderful, huge dinner last night together at Jerry and Susie's. Jennie made phenomenal caramel chocolate chip brownies that we all bathed our bellies in before heading out to our beds.

Mom is looking better each day. Her yellow is lessening despite the tremendous leakage we're dealing with (I guess it's good despite it's yuck). She's eating well. I think Thayne would agree that it feels nice to have our real home right down the way from mom -- it makes it easier somehow. I was also delighted to read about two more medical studies providing further evidence that laughter is indeed good medicine and that humor provides hope. "The best clinicians understand that there is an intrinsic physiological intervention brought about by positive emotions such as mirthful laughter, optimism and hope," said study leader Lee Berk of Loma Linda University.

Let both be our mantras. Happy Sunday to ya'll.

  3. Hey Paulette, At church this morning I noticed alot of people wearing yellow per Taryn's sugestion, it was nice. Instead of paying attention to the sermon like I should of I caught myself remembering the day I met you.I was an incredibly DORKY teenager who thought he was cool and Greg came cruisin in with this beautiful, nice, funny and really COOL girl named Paulette. I was completely at ease with you the moment you said "Hi" and we became instant friends trying to make each other laugh.I just wanted you to know that since that time you are the person that I measure other people by. I've met alot of really kind, nice and even cool people since then but nobody has measured up to PAULETTE COOL! I hope today is a good one and tell J,S,T,T,J&M hey. Love ya, Brad

  4. Paulette,
Good to hear you are in Denver. We think about you daily. You are in our prayers. I read Taryn's piece about humor. You know my humor is usually not appropriate. I will save my comments when I see you. I will give Garrison a "side poke" for you.
    Take care,
    Bill #2

  7. Good Morning, Paulette. Well, well, well, a brunch of barbecued pulled pork certainly hit the spot I imagine. Keep that fork to the pork! Your body is wanting that tasty stuff. Rest and eat, those sound like good orders for the day. The sun is trying to peek through the clouds here and jump start the outdoor thermometer to bump the red marker up a bit. Even when skies are cloudy or overcast, Paulette, we can trust the sunshine we carry within us through the faith and hope we have in God's loving grace towards us. He knows what you're going through and He knows what you're feeling and He knows what good things He has planned for you.

I am also praying for Greg, Thayne, and Taryn and hubzo. The journey is not a solo trip, that's for sure.

    Today's Joke:
The local veterinarian in a small town in Maine was treating a vacationer's dog that had had an unfortunate encounter with a porcupine.
After prying, pulling, cutting, and stitching, he returned the dog to its owner.
"How much will that be?" the out-of-towner asked.
"A hundred dollars, ma'am," the vet answered.
"Why that's simply outrageous!" she stormed. "You're always trying to overcharge nonresidents. What do you do in the winter, when we're not here to be gypped?"
    "Raise porcupines, ma'am."

God's encouragement: "A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing." (Proverbs 17:22a)

Keep on keepin' on, Paulette. Hmmm, wonder what wonderful aromas are wafting through the air at your brother and sister-in-law's house.

    Praying for you,
    Joyce
