I wish the wind would blow Mary Poppins in

This crazy wind in southwest Kansas needs to blow in a special nanny or something. I don't see any other reason why it should blow this hard.

Mom is looking better today than she has in a week. We colored her hair and covered her bandages for bath time. Because of the series of wires going through her side and into the liver area, mom is uncomfortable on her right side. She can't raise her arms or sit up or down very well. So, the high bed in her bedroom isn't an option for sleeping. We bought her a nifty zero gravity chair that she can rest and sleep in. A friend brought over the coolest hot pink K-State snuggie, so she's burrowed into the chair and very comfy. Her appetite is rearing its head, too -- great news for everyone! She was eyeballing my slice of pizza yesterday... and keeping everything down with no pancreatic pain.

While the wind blows around like the sidewalks of Times Square at noon on a weekday, she's resting up for the trip we'll be making by car. Flying is not a comfortable option for her at this point. Keep an eye open for her chugging along I-70.

  5. Good Morning, Paulette. This is a traveling day, so as you're packing up for the trip (don't forget the K-State snuggie, Greg!), also pack up the many well wishes of your friends and family. You are close to our hearts through our prayers. Thank you to Taryn for the blog dealie (how's that for word choice, Taryn?) ... pretty soon you young people will have me chatting and showing up on face space or whatever that is! Paulette, God loves you and is guiding you into the right place at the right time to the right medical team that will get you onto the road of recovery. One of my favorite Bible verses is in Psalm 57:1 -- "Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for my soul trusts in You; yea, in the shadow of Your wings will I make my refuge until these calamties are overpast." Thinking about you, Joyce
